The Spaniards Camped Here

I live a short drive away from a historical monument to a Conquistador camp, which is now in the midst of oilfields and cattle pastures.

I suppose they enslaved some Indians on the way, because that's what they tended to do, right?

There once were avocado groves here, I've been told. Now there are polyglot suburbs with green lawns and a distinct lack of Spaniards. The only Indians around here have come from Bombay.
